3.14 Action Fund Endorses Dr. Brian Williams in TX-32
Organization with a long record of electing STEM leaders to Congress backs Dr. Brian Williams.
DALLAS, TX - Today, Dr. Brian Williams’ campaign announced that he has been endorsed by 3.14 Action Fund, a national organization committed to electing more scientists and doctors to public office.
“What Congress needs now more than ever is to have smart, driven leaders like Brian Williams in office," said Shaughnessy Naughton, president of 3.14 Action Fund. “We founded 3.14 Action Fund on the principle that the government is better served by having elected officials with diverse backgrounds. There will be no better champion to serve the families of Texas in Congress than Brian Williams, and that's why we need to send him to Washington. We are proud to endorse Brian Williams for Congress.”
3.14 Action Fund was pivotal in electing nine first-time science candidates to the US House of Representatives in 2018 and two candidates to the US Senate in 2020. 3.14 has previously shared its plans to spend $20 to $25 million on the 2024 elections electing new scientist candidates to Congress and protecting existing Members.
“As an aeronautical engineer turned trauma surgeon, I’m thrilled to have the endorsement of 3.14 Action,” said Dr. Brian Williams. “We need more scientist leaders in Congress and, in particular, more doctors who have seen the impact of gun violence, lack of healthcare access and affordability, and attacks on the reproductive rights of the patients we treat firsthand. My campaign team and I are focused on earning the support of voters in this district who want a champion for those values representing them in Washington.”
Dr. Brian Williams is a Harvard-trained physician who has worked to save thousands of patients from senseless gun violence throughout his career. He has focused his professional advocacy to date on the intersecting issues of gun violence and healthcare access. While working as a health policy advisor to Senator Chris Murphy and then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi last year, Dr. Williams helped Democratic leaders draft and pass the most consequential gun safety law in modern American history.
Since announcing his campaign for Congress, Dr. Brian Williams has traveled the 32nd Congressional District, taking his campaign directly to voters. His campaign raised more than $160,000 within the first 24 hours of his joining the race in May.
