One of the most dire threats our state faces is the denial of reproductive health rights held by Texas women for nearly 50 years. Pregnant people have the right to make decisions about their health alongside their families with the guidance of their doctors  – without the interference of politicians. I’ve operated on women facing death due to reproductive emergencies, and it is unacceptable any person would be denied life-saving care. It’s equally unacceptable that Texas women no longer have the freedom to make their own reproductive healthcare choices.

In Congress, I will defend against attempts to deny Texas women the basic human right of bodily autonomy, and fight to restore what was taken away by the extreme Dobbs v. Jackson Supreme Court decision. Abortion is healthcare, and we must restore the protections of Roe v. Wade.

In Congress, I will vote to re-establish and protect the right to an abortion nationwide. I will also: 

• Defend every patients’ right to make their own healthcare decisions.

• Guarantee the right to birth control, and work to make it more accessible over the counter. 

• Ensure healthcare providers are protected from threats and harassment as they work to provide patients with the care they need.

• Oppose medically unnecessary procedures and requirements on abortion providers and those seeking abortion access.

• Support funding that would improve and increase access to family planning services.
